What will you learn?

In Journey to wisdom, you will learn an embodied skill known as Focusing. Many of us have never learnt to notice our feelings - or our body. We may have never been taught that we have answers inside of us and instead override our needs and innate wisdom. Focusing is a life long skill that opens you to everyday tools to access your own wisdom and offers a route to deep self compassion. Once learnt it can be used in every aspect of living: Self connection, decision making, healing emotional wounds, creative process, empathy with others.

How the course can help you?

If you are someone who struggles to not analyse and criticise, then Journey to wisdom can help you to tune into a deeper knowing that is accessed through the body. The body knows more than we think!

If you are someone who finds gets easily triggered or overwhelmed by emotions, then Journey to wisdom can give you tools to pause and get curious about what’s happening. You will develop skills to be with every part of you, to be a compassionate listener to yourself

If you work with others as a coach or therapist , then journey to wisdom can help you connect more to your own inner wisdom and then invite your clients to find theirs. 

The structure of the course

The Journey to wisdom course is split into two 10 week courses, with a break in between. Part one covers the essentials of Focusing and Listening - enabling you to apply Focusing into your everyday life and practice in partnership* with others. Part two goes deeper into focusing by working with parts, deepening your skills as a companion and exploring Focusing in everyday life. You can book both together or try part one first. By completing both of these, you will receive the BFA Focusing Skills Certificate 

  • Each class is 2 1/4 hours long, comprising of teachings, Focusing practice and group discussions.

  • PDF handouts and worksheets for each week

  • Outside of class, you’ll have a weekly partnership practice, plus access to a forum to chat with students and teachers.

*What is Focusing Partnership?

Focusing Partnerships are a profound form of exploring Focusing, where you are simply an empathic listener to one another. 

No advice, no questions… just pure listening. You don’t even have to know what the person is talking about.

During your weekly Focusing partnership practice on the course, your partner simply listens to you without judgment or agenda. The presence of someone who is completely present and accepting in this way has a profound effect! You’ll also learn how to give that same level of presence to your Focusing partner. 

And Focusing partnership is free

Who is this course for?

You are someone who wants to connect to their body and inner knowing - for your own development

You are a therapist or coach and want to learn the foundations of Focusing.

Part 1: Sep 30 to Dec 9 10 Tuesday evenings 7-9.15pm (no class Nov 4)

Part 2: Jan 13 to Mar 24 10 Tuesday evenings 7-9.15pm (no class Feb 17)
